With the onset of cooler, drier weather, our skin can easily become dry, cracked, and rough. But with some quick and easy steps you can keep your skin smooth and healthy all year round!
Keep Cozy
When the temps turn chilly make sure to keep your hands covered to prevent your skin from drying and cracking. Your skin can lose 25% of its ability to retain moisture in the winter so keep covered and stay warm.
Stay Hydrated
Keeping your skin well hydrated starts from the inside out. Make sure to continue to drink plenty of water to keep your body functioning at it's best.
Herbs to the Rescue
Many herbs have anti-inflammatory properties which can help skin stay hydrated and healthy. Herbal supplements such as turmeric, burdock root, chamomile, and green tea can help keep skin more supple and hydrated.
Oils that Soothe
Using natural oils and butters can give you more soothing relief than lotions and synthetic emollients. Synthetic fragrances can irritate skin and cause allergic breakouts and commons emollients like petroleum jelly and mineral oil (by-products of the oil industry) can clog pores and may cause other healthy issues.
Thankfully nature provides us with oils that can keep skin healthy and beautiful. Beeswax, shea butter, cocoa butter, coconut oil, and pumpkin seed oil are all great examples of natural skin loving ingredients that you will find in our butters, balms, and hand creams!
Everyone's skin care routine is different but these few tips can easily be added to give your skin the extra care it needs during the winter months.
